Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an exam cost?

All our fees depend upon your insurance coverage and the service provided. We take both medical and vision insurance at Park Slope Eye. We would be happy to run the numbers for you if you are looking for an estimate.

Please be sure to inform us of your medical and/or vision insurance provider, and include your specialist co-pay for an accurate quote. If you do not have insurance coverage or need to self-pay, let us know so that we can give you our current special offer.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please let us know at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. If you are unable to provide 48 hours notice or do not keep your appointment, a $100 fee will be charged.

Ensure you know the details of your insurance coverage prior to accepting our services by contacting your insurance provider. Though we will review accepted benefits with you at the time of your exam, it’s your responsibility to know the details of your coverage. We would hate for you to be left with an unexpected bill!

Please bring a valid driver’s license and any medical and/or vision coverage cards you may have, as well as all of your sunglasses, glasses, contact lenses, contact lens boxes, and contact lens case.

Contact lenses typically take 2-3 business days, while glasses usually take 1 to 2 weeks to arrive. If you need your order sooner, let us know – we do have same day or next day capabilities for rush orders, under special circumstances.

Likely not! Park Slope Eye is excited to be 1 of 2 practices in Brooklyn offering the safe alternative of advanced ultra-widefield retinal imaging. This means we usually do not need to dilate. However, if you are a senior, have diabetes, or symptoms of flashes or floaters, which may indicate a retinal tear or detachment, please be prepared to have your eyes dilated.

We accept both medical and vision plans, but please note we are out-of-network for any Medicaid plan, regardless of whether the program is privately insured.

We understand the importance of vision and eye health coverage for your family. Being accessible is key to our practice. However, we are out-of-network for any Medicaid plan, even if it is a program through a private insurer.

If you have any questions about the coverage we accept or would like an estimate of the cost for an eye service, please don’t hesitate to contact us at Info@ParkSlopeEye.com.

Please let us know if you are not insured, as we have rotating incentives that could be applied to the cost of your visit.
