Social Media Buzz
The optical community has made extensive use of social media to raise awareness and attendance. The hashtag #VisionExpo and the event’s official Twitter account generated 31 million impressions, 15% more than last year’s. The upcoming Vision Expo West this September is expected to generate similar numbers.
EYE2EYE Series
This year marked the debut of the EYE2EYE series, in which participants discuss topics that inform, empower and challenge attendees. The inaugural edition featured award-winning artist, actor and film producer Common, who shared his inspiring experiences and passion for creativity. The founders of apparel company FUBU discussed the launch of their eyeglasses line FUBU Legends Eyewear, as well as the rise and success of their unique brand.
Opticon @ Vision Expo
Opticon @ Vision Expo is an educational program and exhibit hall experience, where topics that cover eyecare, education, fashion and innovation are discussed. This year’s OptiCon @ Vision Expo featured presentations by National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS)/Hoya College Bowl and Eyecare Business Magazine. The Boutique Buyer and Corporate Optometry panels were fully attended.
Celebrating the Industry
Vision Expo celebrated the passion, creativity and investment of the exhibitors through several award programs. Children’s eyewear manufacturer Miraflex was awarded first place in the 2019 Vision Choice Awards, while second and third places were awarded to Faniel Eyewear and Lunette USA Inc., respectively. Elsewhere, Article One won Most Creative Booth Design, while Essilor of America was awarded the prize for Best Brand Activation.
