Park Slope Eye is an independent, doctor-owned optometry practice founded in 2008. Being part of Park Slope for that long means we have had the opportunity to care for children, adults, families, and longtime neighborhood patients through many stages of their lives.
This page was originally published in 2016 as a community-involvement post. We updated it in 2026 so it reflects what we can verify and offer today rather than carrying forward details that may no longer be current.
Eye care for local families
Our most important role in the community is straightforward: provide thoughtful eye care, explain what we find, and help patients understand their options.
Park Slope Eye currently provides care that includes:
- comprehensive eye exams;
- children’s eye exams and infant eye care;
- contact lens exams and fittings, including specialty and harder-to-fit lenses;
- myopia management;
- dry-eye evaluation and treatment;
- medical eye care;
- retinal imaging and OCT when useful; and
- prescription eyewear in our in-office optical.
We try to make the experience understandable rather than assuming patients already know eye-care terminology. When a test, treatment, or additional service is recommended, we want patients to know what it is for and why it may matter.

InfantSEE and early eye care
Park Slope Eye participates in InfantSEE, a national public-health program that provides qualifying infant eye assessments at no charge during a baby’s first year of life.
Infants do not need to be able to read an eye chart for an optometrist to evaluate important parts of their visual development and eye health. We see children of all ages, including infants, and also encourage a comprehensive eye exam before school.

Sharing useful eye-health information
Community education does not have to happen only inside an exam room. Our website resources are intended to answer common eye-health questions in plain language and to help patients recognize when an issue deserves an eye examination or referral.
That includes information about children’s vision, myopia, contact lenses, dry eye, eye disease, eyewear, eye safety, and other topics that come up frequently in practice.
Keeping this page current
An older version of this page described community presentations and meeting-space availability. We do not currently advertise those as services, so we have removed those details rather than leave potentially outdated information online.
What remains current is our commitment to being a useful, independent eye-care resource for Park Slope and the surrounding Brooklyn community.
